Policy
Editorial Standards
DMV Frontpage publishes two clearly different kinds of content: work produced by other outlets that we surface and send readers to, and original work produced by DMV Frontpage that carries our byline and credits. We do not blur the two.
Aggregation
We curate reporting and coverage from publishers serving Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia. Aggregated items identify the original publisher prominently and send headline and image clicks directly to the original source.
We do not republish full articles and we do not create an intermediate DMV Frontpage article page for aggregated coverage. Any descriptive blurb shown on DMV Frontpage is written for DMV Frontpage rather than copied from the publisher's article.
We never present another outlet's reporting as DMV Frontpage reporting.
Attribution and direct linking
Aggregated items identify the original publisher prominently and link readers directly to the source story. DMV Frontpage does not create a duplicate article page for that reporting.
Images displayed with aggregated items come from the story's source feed or page and remain part of the outbound source treatment. We do not present those images as DMV Frontpage photography.
Publishers may ask us to correct attribution, update an aggregated item or stop surfacing a specific item or source. Those requests can be handled through our contact page.
DMV Frontpage Originals
Originals are clearly marked as DMV Frontpage Original and carry a byline, publication date and photography credit when applicable. Reviews reflect the writer's judgment and are not exchanged for favorable treatment.
When access, a credential or another material consideration is relevant to understanding a piece, we disclose it when appropriate.
Photography
Original photography is credited to the person who made the image. Standard editorial adjustments such as exposure, white balance, contrast, noise reduction and cropping are permitted. We do not add or remove meaningful documentary content from news, sports or event photographs in a way that changes what happened.
Automation
Software helps DMV Frontpage discover feeds, normalize links, group possible duplicates, monitor source health and prepare material for editorial review. Publication and display rules are enforced by the publishing system. Automation does not convert somebody else's reporting into a DMV Frontpage Original.
Corrections and transparency
Material factual errors in our original work or in a DMV Frontpage-written aggregation blurb are corrected when verified. Our corrections policy explains how substantive changes are handled. If the underlying publisher corrects or retracts a story, we update or remove our reference to it as appropriate rather than attempting to rewrite that publisher's reporting ourselves.
DMV Frontpage is an independent regional publication and discovery platform covering Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia.
